CAIRO - 2 May 2026: Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, received Ambassador Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Arab Republic of Egypt, to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation and follow up on the outcomes of the official visit of the Swedish Minister of Health to Egypt.
This reflects the keenness of both sides to advance the partnership frameworks towards more integrated and sustainable levels.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Chairman of the Authority welcomed the Swedish Ambassador, emphasizing the depth of Egyptian-Swedish relations and the Authority's commitment to expanding cooperation with international partners.
This cooperation aims to contribute to the exchange of expertise and enhance regulatory capabilities in accordance with the latest international standards.
He also stressed the importance of technical cooperation with the Swedish Medical Products Agency to support the Authority's efforts to reach Maturity Level 4 (ML4) according to the World Health Organization's assessment, reflecting the Egyptian state's commitment to implementing best international regulatory practices.
For his part, the Swedish Ambassador praised the remarkable progress made by the Egyptian Drug Authority in regulating and controlling the pharmaceutical market. He also emphasized his country's appreciation for the Authority's pivotal regulatory role and its commitment to supporting Egypt's position as a leading regional hub for the pharmaceutical industry, thus contributing to enhanced drug security.
The meeting also addressed the outcomes of the Swedish Minister of Health's visit to Egypt, as well as discussing mechanisms for activating joint cooperation, particularly in supporting Swedish companies operating in the Egyptian market and facilitating the import of technical components for medical supplies.
