CAIRO – 1 May 2026: A noticeable drop in temperatures is expected across northern Egypt, including Greater Cairo and northern Upper Egypt, starting Sunday, offering relief after a heatwave that has pushed daytime highs above 30°C.
Temperatures in northern regions are forecast to fall by 6-7 degrees, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA).
In Cairo and the Nile Delta, highs are set to drop from around 32°C on Saturday to 25°C, while lows will ease from 17°C to about 14°C.
Along the North Coast, including Alexandria and Matrouh, conditions will be mild throughout the week, with daytime highs ranging between 20°C and 21°C and lows between 12°C and 15°C.
In northern Upper Egypt, temperatures are expected to decline from 35°C to around 26°C, with nighttime lows falling from 17°C to about 12°C.
Further south, southern Upper Egypt will remain relatively hot but will also see a gradual decrease, with highs dropping from around 39°C to 31°C and lows from 25°C to 17°C as the week progresses.
Light to moderate rainfall is also forecast for parts of the northwestern coast, the Nile Delta, and the Gulf of Suez on Saturday, with heavier and possibly thundery showers expected in Matrouh.
Overall, early mornings and nights will be relatively cool, while daytime conditions will remain warm nationwide and hot in Upper Egypt.
