CAIRO – 29 April 2026: The Cabinet Media Center has denied social media claims that Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said Egypt’s tourism sector is losing $600 million a day due to the global crisis.

In a statement on its official platforms, the center described the circulating statements as “false, misleading, and inaccurate.”

It clarified that the original remarks made by the prime minister before the House of Representatives referred to losses in the tourism sector at the regional level, not in Egypt specifically.

Madbouly cited estimates by the World Travel and Tourism Council that daily losses in the Middle East’s tourism sector average around $600 million due to flight cancellations and reduced travel to the region.

The media center urged the public to verify information from official sources and avoid spreading unverified claims on social media.
