CAIRO – 26 April 2026: Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty highlighted efforts made to prepare the second National Strategy for Human Rights for 2026-2031 under directives by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The foreign minister chaired the seventh ministerial meeting for the Supreme Standing Committee for Human Rights with the participation of ministers and representatives from various national entities.

Abdelatty outlined extensive consultations conducted by the committee’s technical secretariat with national entities, experts, youth from across governorates, parliamentarians, civil society representatives, and national councils as part of the efforts to prepare the strategy.

He highlighted the firm belief of these parties that the second human rights strategy should represent a genuine contribution to developing the national approach to human rights.

Attending the session, Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy emphasized the importance of focusing on the right to development as a key pillar of the human rights strategy.

The meeting saw an interactive discussion on the efforts undertaken by national entities to strengthen the human rights framework in its comprehensive sense across political, economic, social, and cultural fields.

Participants also discussed legislative measures aimed at promoting and protecting human rights in Egypt.
