FM: Negotiation and dialogue are only way to resolve regional conflicts

CAIRO - 25 April 2026: During a phone call with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty affirmed that negotiation and dialogue are the only way to resolve the ongoing regional conflict.

 

He emphasized that this approach contributes to de-escalation, promotes political solutions that avoid military escalation, and preserves freedom of international navigation.

 

The call also addressed ways to support and strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. The two ministers exchanged views on a number of regional issues.

 

Minister Abdelatty stressed the importance Egypt attaches to enhancing bilateral relations with Brazil, noting the keenness to elevate the level of joint cooperation in various fields.

 

He also emphasized the importance of strengthening economic, trade, and investment cooperation, and working to open new markets for Egyptian products with competitive advantages in the Brazilian market.

 

The call also addressed regional developments and efforts to advance the diplomatic track between the United States and Iran.

 

Minister Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's support for the negotiation process and the importance of proceeding with the second round of negotiations between the two sides, working towards understandings that would solidify the ceasefire and end the war. He also reviewed Egypt's ongoing efforts and contacts in this regard.

 

Regarding developments in the Palestinian issue, Minister Abdelatty commended Brazil's supportive stance on Palestinian rights, emphasizing the importance of completing the implementation of the second phase of US President Donald Trump's plan.

 

He stressed the necessity of ensuring the unhindered flow of humanitarian, relief, and medical aid to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.

 

For his part, the Brazilian Foreign Minister praised Egypt's pivotal role in supporting regional peace and security, appreciating its efforts to de-escalate tensions and resolve crises through peaceful means. He affirmed his country's commitment to continued coordination and consultation in the coming period.
