Egypt’s FM discusses regional de-escalation with Bahraini and German counterparts

CAIRO – 24 April 2026: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdelatty, held a phone call with Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, on Friday.

During their call, the two ministers discussed the latest developments regarding the resumption of negotiations between the United States and Iran.

They emphasized the importance of reaching an agreement that would contribute to containing current tensions and establishing the foundations for regional stability.

Minister Abdelatty also reiterated Egypt's full solidarity with Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in confronting any challenges targeting their security and stability.

Separately, the Foreign Minister received a phone call from Johannes Wadephul, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany.

The call addressed the rapidly evolving developments in the Middle East. Both ministers stressed the importance of consolidating the ceasefire between the United States and Iran and supporting the negotiation process to foster de-escalation and restore regional security.

In this context, Minister Abdelatty emphasized the importance of the European role in supporting efforts to calm tensions and reduce escalation across the region.
