CAIRO – 24 April 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's participation in the Nicosia Summit reinforces Egypt's strategic partnership with the region, providing the summit with significant political momentum and a message of regional unity, the Cypriot Presidency stated on Friday, according to Al-Qahera News.

The Cypriot Presidency added that Egypt remains a pivotal partner in confronting regional challenges, noting that its participation in the Nicosia Summit confirms growing coordination with Europe.

The statement further emphasized Egypt's active role in advancing regional dialogue and enhancing stability, stressing that the summit serves as a vital opportunity to align positions with Cairo.

The Presidency also noted that Egypt and Cyprus are leading the cooperation process in the Eastern Mediterranean, and that President El-Sisi's participation reflects Egypt's central importance in the regional security equation. “We value Egypt's role in containing the repercussions of crises in the region,” the statement read.

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi departed for Nicosia, Cyprus, on Friday to participate in a consultative meeting bringing together leaders from several Arab nations, European Union member states, and EU institutions.

The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, stated that President El-Sisi is attending the meeting at the invitation of Cypriot President Nicos Christodoulides and the President of the European Council, António Costa.

The summit takes place within the framework of ongoing consultations between regional countries and the European Union regarding current geopolitical developments, as well as various regional and international issues.

President El-Sisi is expected to deliver a speech outlining Egypt's vision for achieving regional and international stability and enhancing cooperation between regional stakeholders and the European Union. The President will also hold a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the consultative gathering.
