Egyptian Journalists syndicate condemns Israeli's targeting of 2 journalists southern Lebanon

CAIRO - 23 April 2026: The Egyptian Journalists Syndicate strongly condemns the crime committed by the Israeli occupation army in southern Lebanon, which resulted in the killing of journalist Amal Khalil.

 

Israeli warplanes pursued her and targeted her with several airstrikes, first striking her car and then the house where she had sought refuge. This constitutes a direct and deliberate targeting of the press and journalists.

 

The Syndicate also expresses its strong condemnation of the targeting of journalist Zeinab Farag in the same airstrike. She survived the assassination attempt, while the bombing resulted in the martyrdom of two other civilians.

 

This reveals the continued policy of systematically targeting both civilians and journalists.

 

The Syndicate affirms that targeting journalists while performing their professional duties is a fully-fledged crime and a flagrant violation of all international laws and conventions that guarantee the protection of journalists in areas of armed conflict. It also represents a desperate attempt to silence the truth and prevent the world from witnessing events.

 

The Egyptian Journalists Syndicate mourns the loss of colleague, Amal Khalil, and extends its deepest condolences to her family, colleagues, the journalistic community in Lebanon, and the families of the civilian victims of this aggression.

 

The Syndicate calls upon the international community, the United Nations, and organizations concerned with press freedom and human rights to take immediate action to stop the repeated crimes against journalists and civilians in Lebanon, to launch an urgent international investigation, and to hold those responsible for these grave violations accountable.

 

"The impunity enjoyed by the Zionist entity emboldens it to commit further crimes against the voice of truth in Palestine and Lebanon. Therefore, we reiterate the necessity for all concerned parties worldwide to unite their efforts to ensure that the Zionist entity is held accountable and receives the punishment it deserves," said the syndicate.
