CAIRO – 22 April 2026: Cabinet Spokesperson Mohamed El-Homsany affirmed that the government is maintaining its efforts to mitigate the repercussions of the ongoing regional conflict by ensuring the consistent supply of essential goods and meeting the basic needs of citizens.
El-Homsany explained that the government is coordinating through the Crisis Committee, which meets regularly to discuss and implement measures required to address regional fallout. These efforts ensure a rapid response to market changes and safeguard the local supply chain.
In televised remarks, the spokesperson indicated that the state is working diligently to contain the effects of the current regional war. These efforts rely on strategic reserves to provide essential commodities and are bolstered by strengthened market oversight.
El-Homsany added that there is high-level cooperation among several relevant authorities, including the Ministries of Supply and Interior, the Egyptian Competition Authority, and the Consumer Protection Agency. This inter-agency collaboration aims to monitor markets, ensure goods remain available, and prevent monopolistic practices or unjustified price hikes.
He further noted that the primary goal of these measures is to curb inflation and price manipulation. The government continues to allocate the necessary funding to secure basic needs while competent authorities maintain strict market surveillance to ensure the stability and availability of goods for all consumers.
