CAIRO - 30 July 2017: Qatar-owned Raya newspaper accused UAE Crown Prince Mohamed bin Zayed of supporting military and tyrannical regimes against the peoples’ aspirations, freedoms and equality.

Raya newspaper allegedly said bin Zayed “leads the boycott” against the tiny oil-rich state, claiming that he backed the failed coup attempt in Turkey which took place mid July, 2016.

“Qatar’s regime is angry at The UAE Crown Prince and deputy Supreme Leader of the Armed Forces because of the Emirati stance towards the Egyptian state”, Abu Dhabi Information Directorate chief Ali bin Tamim revealed on Sunday.

Bin Tamim wrote on his Twitter account that “ Qatar spent dozens of billion dollars to pull down the Egyptian state in favor of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood group and their associates in Egypt.”

Turkey declared a state of emergency days after the coup and launched a massive crackdown, arresting about 50,000 people and dismissing more than 110,000 workers from government jobs. The crackdown initially focused on people suspected of ties to the alleged coup plotters, but has been extended to include politicians, journalists and activists.

Eser is the second top Amnesty International official in Turkey to be arrested. Last month, Amnesty's Turkey chair, Taner Kilic, was arrested for alleged links to Gulen's movement.
