CAIRO - 22 April 2026: The Media Center of the Egyptian Cabinet issued a formal statement Wednsday, dismissing recent social media rumors regarding the admission of food imports containing radioactive traces.

Following direct coordination with the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA), the Cabinet clarified that all food imports are subject to a rigorous, integrated regulatory system that adheres to the latest international safety standards. The NFSA emphasized that shipments are screened using precise scientific mechanisms, including radiological measurements based on a strictly enforced risk assessment system.

The Authority highlighted that 100% of shipments originating from countries or regions classified as high-risk for radiation are inspected in collaboration with the Atomic Energy Authority.

Furthermore, the NFSA stated that if any food shipment is found to be contaminated—even within limits permissible in other countries—it is strictly prohibited from entering Egypt. Immediate legal actions are taken, including the rejection and re-exportation of the shipment directly from the port of arrival.

The Cabinet urged social media users to verify information through official sources and avoid spreading unverified news that may cause public concern.
