CAIRO - 22 April 2026: The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population issued a warning emphasizing the importance of regular cervical screening to detect early changes in the cervix, which can develop into cervical cancer if left untreated.
As part of its ongoing efforts under the 100 Million Healthy Lives Initiative, the ministry stressed that early detection is the first line of defense for women, significantly contributing to reducing cancer-related incidence and mortality rates.
The ministry explained that regular screening helps detect any abnormal changes in cervical cells before they progress to advanced stages, allowing for prompt medical intervention and effective treatment.
The ministry further emphasized the importance of not waiting for symptoms to appear.
The ministry urged women to take advantage of the free screening services available at various health units and medical centers nationwide, affirming that the initiative aims to provide comprehensive and easily accessible healthcare, thus enhancing opportunities for prevention and early detection.
The ministry also appealed to citizens to contact the announced hotlines to inquire about service locations and hours, reflecting the state's commitment to supporting the health of Egyptian women and reducing the spread of cancer.
