CAIRO – 21 April 2026: Finnish President Alexander Stubb held a press conference on the sidelines of the Egyptian-Finnish Business Forum, which took place on Tuesday at the headquarters of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) in Cairo.
The forum was attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, along with several ministers, senior officials, and representatives from the business communities of both nations.
During his remarks, President Stubb noted that the world is currently experiencing a period of high turbulence, which necessitates the development of stronger ties between nations. He emphasized that Egypt remains a vital partner for Finland.
In a media dialogue, the Finnish President highlighted Egypt's prominent role in supporting regional stability and praised the significant achievements of the Egyptian state in recent years. Recalling his previous visit in 2009 as a government minister leading a business delegation, President Stubb remarked on the "remarkable progress" witnessed across numerous sectors, particularly in infrastructure development and the reduction of traffic congestion.
He further noted that Egypt’s youthful population is a "great strength" and pointed to the country’s unique geographical location as a strategic bridge between continents.
President Stubb indicated that both sides have agreed to enhance cooperation in the field of education across various stages, drawing on Finland’s pioneering expertise in communications and modern technology. Agreements were also reached to bolster cooperation in the health and telecommunications sectors, with both countries expressing a strong desire to increase the volume of bilateral trade exchange.
