CAIRO - 21 April 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi welcomed Finnish President Alexander Stubb in Cairo during his official visit to Egypt, emphasizing the strength of bilateral relations and the shared commitment to expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.

During a joint press conference following talks at Al-Ittihadiya Palace, El-Sisi described the discussions as constructive and comprehensive, covering regional and international developments as well as opportunities to deepen bilateral ties.

The Egyptian president stressed the importance of enhancing economic, trade, and investment cooperation, while encouraging stronger engagement between the business communities of both countries. He also welcomed the accompanying Finnish business delegation, highlighting Egypt’s growing investment potential and significant progress in infrastructure development.

 

El-Sisi noted that discussions explored cooperation in key sectors, including information and communication technology, digital transformation, renewable energy, education, healthcare, advanced industries, mining, and wood industries. He emphasized the importance of knowledge exchange and capacity building, particularly in education and institutional development.

 

The talks also addressed cooperation within the framework of the Egypt–European Union strategic partnership, with El-Sisi underlining Finland’s role in supporting and advancing this partnership.

 

On regional issues, El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting stability and security, stressing the need for continued coordination to address ongoing crises in the Middle East. He reiterated Egypt’s rejection of attacks against Arab states and emphasized that Arab security remains an integral part of Egypt’s national security.

 

The president also highlighted Egypt’s efforts to promote de-escalation and prevent further conflict in a region critical to global trade, energy, and food security. He welcomed the current truce as a positive step toward easing tensions and called for prioritizing diplomatic solutions to avoid further escalation.

 

Regarding the Palestinian issue, El-Sisi stressed the importance of maintaining focus on developments in Gaza and the West Bank, calling for intensified efforts to uphold ceasefire commitments and advance a political solution based on the two-state framework. He reaffirmed Egypt’s rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians or alter the status of their territories.

 

El-Sisi also addressed developments in Lebanon, Libya, and Sudan, reaffirming Egypt’s support for ceasefire efforts in Sudan and its firm stance on preserving the country’s unity and territorial integrity.

 

The Egyptian president concluded by highlighting the alignment in views between both sides and the significant opportunities to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in ways that support development and mutual interests.
