CAIRO - 19 April 2026: Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stated that North Sinai represents a promising investment destination.
Madbouly’s comments came during his morning of several development and service projects in North Sinai Governorate.
He was accompanied by Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Transport; Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Environment; Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities; and Major General Dr. Khaled Maghawer, Governor of North Sinai.
Also, joining the tour were Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone;:and Dr. Amr Kandil, Deputy Minister of Health and Population.
The Prime Minister said that the state’s vision aims to transform North Sinai into a major hub for urban, industrial, commercial, agricultural, and tourism activities. He reiterated the government’s commitment to providing incentives that encourage investment and support the people of North Sinai, stressing that sustainable development in Sinai depends on the active participation of its residents, in line with the President’s directives.
The Prime Minister affirmed that his visit- coinciding with Sinai Liberation Day celebrations- comes within the framework of monitoring and expiditing the implementation of key development and service projects. These include healthcare facilities, drinking water and seawater desalination plants, as well as industrial initiatives and vital infrastructure projects such as the development of El-Arish Airport and the city’s seaport. He noted that these efforts form part of a comprehensive strategic plan aimed at achieving integrated development in North Sinai, under the national project launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
It is worth mentioning that Egypt has begun implementing a logistics zone in the city of El-Arish, covering an area of approximately 603 acres. The government is advancing a comprehensive strategic plan to develop El-Arish Port, the only Mediterranean port in North Sinai. The project aims to transform the port into a regional transportation and logistics hub, serving as a key gateway for trade between Europe and Asia.
Dr. Madbouly added that the government, through its relevant ministries and agencies, is actively advancing the second phase of the state’s integrated development plan for Sinai. This phase encompasses a wide range of projects across agriculture, industry, mining, and urban development, alongside continued infrastructure upgrades. These include road networks, bridges, tunnels, and tourism development initiatives.
These efforts reflect the state’s commitment to human development and improving the quality of life for the people of this vital region.
