Egypt, Yemen discuss cooperation in digital transformation

CAIRO - 9 April 2026: Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hindy on Thursday, April 9, 2026, held a meeting with Yemeni counterpart Shadi Saleh Basura to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation in digital transformation and digital capacity building.

During the meeting, the two ministers reviewed Egypt’s experience in digital transformation, including the expansion of government digital services through the Egypt Digital platform, as well as initiatives to develop digital skills across age groups.

The meeting also tackled Egypt’s efforts to upgrade digital infrastructure and telecommunications services, including the rollout of fifth-generation (5G) mobile services.

For his part, the Yemeni minister showed interest in benefiting from Egypt’s experience in digital transformation, government service digitization, 5G deployment, infrastructure rehabilitation, and human-capacity building, particularly after damage to Yemen’s telecommunications infrastructure over the past decade.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from Egypt’s communications sector, the National Telecom Regulatory Authority, Telecom Egypt, and the Yemeni telecommunications sector.
