CAIRO – 8 April 2026: The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, has strongly condemned the "barbaric and unprecedented" Israeli attacks on Lebanon, which have resulted in hundreds of casualties among innocent civilians.

Aboul Gheit affirmed that these strikes constitute a blatant violation of international and humanitarian law, holding Israel fully responsible for the dangerous escalation currently unfolding in the region.

Furthermore, he accused Israel of actively seeking to undermine the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran at a critical juncture, even as the international community makes strenuous efforts to defuse the crisis.

The League's official spokesperson, Jamal Rushdi, explained that the continuation of these policies threatens to further inflame the situation in Lebanon and the wider region, effectively obstructing any diplomatic understandings intended to restore stability.

The Arab League reiterated its urgent call for influential members of the international community to pressure Israel into immediately ceasing its military operations and adhering to relevant international resolutions.
