CAIRO – 8 April 2026: Egypt strongly condemns the series of blatant Israeli strikes and raids targeting broad areas of Lebanon, which have resulted in the deaths and injuries of hundreds of civilians in flagrant violation of international law and norms.
In a statement released Wednesday, Egypt expressed its total condemnation and denunciation of this brutal aggression, noting the deliberate and systematic targeting of vital civilian facilities and infrastructure.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the strikes as a blatant violation of Lebanon's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, as well as a grave breach of the rules of international humanitarian law.
Egypt affirmed that these Israeli violations—occurring just one day after the United States and Iran announced a ceasefire—are completely at odds with the constructive and positive spirit that has emerged in the region following the truce.
The statement suggested that the attacks reflect a premeditated intention to undermine the tireless efforts exerted by regional and international parties to de-escalate tensions and prioritize dialogue.
Furthermore, Egypt warned that these actions represent yet another attempt to drag the region into widespread chaos.
The Egyptian government called upon all relevant regional and international actors to intervene immediately to halt this reckless and dangerous escalation and prevent the region from sliding into further violence and instability.
Egypt reiterated its unwavering support and solidarity with Lebanon, emphasizing the necessity of respecting its sovereignty and national institutions. It categorically rejected any attempts to destabilize Lebanese security.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that the Egyptian Embassy in Beirut is in constant contact with the Egyptian community to provide all necessary support. The Embassy confirmed that the community is safe thus far, noting that there have been no reports of injuries among Egyptian nationals to date.
