BEIRUT – 8 April 2026: Israel carried out a large wave of airstrikes across Lebanon on Wednesday, targeting multiple areas despite a US-Iran ceasefire agreement that mediator Pakistan said extends to Lebanon.

Lebanon's Health Minister Rakan Nassereddine said recent attacks havecaused hundreds of casualties, according to Reuters.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is helping lead ongoing peace efforts between the US and Iran, said the truce applies to “everywhere” including Lebanon as part of broader regional de-escalation efforts.

The Israeli strikes hit the southern suburbs of Beirut, southern Lebanon, and the eastern Beqaa Valley, areas where Hezbollah maintains a strong presence.

The Israeli military said the operation involved around 50 fighter jets that dropped around 160 munitions on 100 targets within 10 minutes.
