CAIRO - 8 April 2026: The Egyptian Ministry of Labor has issued new directives to Egyptian recruitment agencies, prohibiting the hiring of Egyptian women for certain specific professions abroad.
This measure aims to regulate the Egyptian labor market outside the country, and ensure that job opportunities offered comply with applicable professional standards.
The prohibited professions include:
1. Domestic Work:
Working in any profession performed within an employer's home is prohibited.
Examples include: (housekeeper, cook, house manager, personal assistant, home nurse), or similar roles.
2. Cafes and Coffee Shops:
Working in cafes and coffee shops is prohibited.
This includes positions such as: (waiter/waitress, bartender, and counter attendant), and similar roles.
The Ministry explained that this directive was issued following monitoring and regulation of the labor market for women seeking employment abroad.
In its official notification to the head of the recruitment companies division, the ministry stressed the need for all companies to comply with this circular and take the necessary measures regarding it, emphasizing that violating these regulations will lead to the suspension of procedures or the rejection of transactions related to the companies in the future.
