CAIRO – 7 April 2026: Egypt reaffirmed on Tuesday its long-standing position regarding the Western Sahara issue. In response to inquiries regarding potential shifts in policy, an official source confirmed that Egypt’s firm stance remains unchanged.
This position was reiterated during the first session of the Egyptian-Moroccan Coordination and Follow-up Committee, held in Cairo on April 6, 2026. Egypt reaffirmed its principled commitment to prioritizing political solutions, supporting United Nations principles, and upholding the territorial integrity of states, including the Kingdom of Morocco.
Furthermore, Egypt reiterated its support for UN resolutions and emphasized the importance of reaching a mutually agreed-upon political settlement.
