DR Congo army chief Jules Banza Mwilambwe tours Egyptian-made defence systems in Cairo.
CAIRO - 7 APRIL 2026: Lieutenant General Jules Banza Mwilambwe, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, reviewed a range of defense products made by the Arab Organization for Industrialization during his official visit to Egypt.
The visit included a look at several missile systems manufactured by the organization, along with launchers, electronic command and border surveillance systems, armored vehicles, and other products made under the slogan “Proudly Made in Egypt.”
During his tour of the exhibition, the Congolese military chief said he was proud to visit the Arab Organization for Industrialization, stressing the importance of coordinating efforts to achieve greater integration and localize advanced manufacturing technology.
He also said his country is keen to strengthen partnership and cooperation with Egypt across industrial and development sectors.
On the sidelines of the visit, Mokhtar Abdel Latif, chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, held talks with Banza Mwilambwe and the accompanying delegation on ways to expand cooperation and benefit from the organization’s advanced capabilities.
The discussions focused on meeting the needs of development, defense, and security projects in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as identifying possible areas of industrial cooperation between the two sides.
Abdel Latif said stronger cooperation with fellow African countries remains a priority, in line with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to open new horizons for integration with African partners in industrial and economic fields, while also creating new export channels to the continent.
He also praised the ties between Egypt and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, saying continued coordination and joint work could open the door to broader cooperation in defense and security industries.
The chairman added that the Arab Organization for Industrialization is also interested in taking part in development projects in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
