CAIRO - 6 April 2026: Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty received Estonian Parliament Speaker Lauri Hussar on Monday to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation and addressing regional escalations.
Abdelatty emphasized the recent momentum in Egypt-Estonia relations, citing a mutual desire to boost trade and investment.
He highlighted the "promising opportunities" within the Egyptian economy and called for increased parliamentary cooperation through exchange visits and friendship associations.
The talks also focused on digital sectors where Estonia excels. Abdelatty proposed expanding academic exchanges and capacity building in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and digital governance.
Addressing regional crises, Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s efforts to lower tensions in a "delicate phase" for the Middle East.
The two officials discussed the Palestinian cause, the situation in Sudan, Lebanon, and Libya, as well as Egypt’s water security.
Hussar expressed appreciation for Egypt’s "constructive role" in supporting regional stability and its persistent efforts to contain complex crises.
