CAIRO – 6 April 2026: Egypt’s Ministry of Interior has decided to grant all inmates in correctional and rehabilitation centers an exceptional visit on the occasion of Easter and the 2026 Spring holidays.
This humanitarian gesture is aimed at allowing inmates to celebrate religious and national occasions with their families.
The decision aligns with the Ministry of Interior's commitment to a modern penal policy that prioritizes the humanitarian and social well-being of inmates. By providing opportunities to celebrate such occassions with loved ones, the Ministry seeks to offer psychological support and facilitate successful reintegration into society.
This visit will not be counted toward the inmates' regularly scheduled visit quota. This reflects the Ministry's dedication to providing comprehensive social care and upholding human rights standards within modernized correctional and rehabilitation centers, which serve as a model for inmate care and rehabilitation.
The Ministry of Interior continues its efforts to provide the highest levels of care, in line with the state’s strategy for the “New Republic,” which places human dignity and rights at the forefront of all security and service sectors.
