CAIRO – 5 April 2026: Engineer Mohamed Shamroukh, head of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), announced the upcoming launch of a new mobile data package designed specifically for children.

During a meeting of the Communications and Information Technology Committee in the House of Representatives, chaired by Representative Ahmed Badawy and dedicated to discussing a draft law regulating children's use of social media, Shamroukh explained that the children's SIM card is currently undergoing technical testing in cooperation with telecommunications companies, ahead of its launch across Egypt’s four telecom operators.

During the session, Representative Ahmed Badawy inquired about the launch timeline and whether the service would be available within a month.

For his part, Engineer Raafat Hindi, Minister of Communications, confirmed that the children's SIM card will be launched within a maximum of 60 days.

He added that parental supervision remains essential, whether through the use of children’s SIM cards or home internet, stressing the critical role of families in monitoring their children's use of technology and online platforms.
