CAIRO – 3 April 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during which they discussed regional and international efforts to end ongoing conflicts.

 

Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said the call addressed the latest regional developments. President El-Sisi reviewed Egypt’s efforts to halt escalation and ongoing conflicts in the region, emphasizing the importance of sparing regional populations further instability.

 

The president stressed the need to de-escalate current tensions, warning of their negative repercussions on regional security and stability, as well as their economic and trade impacts at both regional and international levels. He underscored the need for concerted regional and international efforts to end the war.

 

President El-Sisi also reiterated Egypt’s condemnation and categorical rejection of Iranian attacks on the sovereignty of Arab states, stressing the need to halt such actions and respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all Arab countries, while reaffirming Egypt’s support for Arab nations.

 

For his part, the Ukrainian president expressed appreciation for Egypt’s efforts to promote de-escalation and maintain regional stability. He voiced agreement with President El-Sisi on the importance of avoiding further escalation and outlined his country’s efforts to prevent a widening of tensions in the Middle East.

 

The call also touched on developments in the Russia-Ukraine war. President Zelensky reviewed the latest developments and expressed appreciation for Egypt’s position and its commitment to ending the conflict. President El-Sisi emphasized the importance of pursuing peaceful solutions and reiterated Egypt’s support for all efforts aimed at reaching a political settlement as soon as possible.

 

The two presidents also reviewed bilateral relations and agreed to continue strengthening cooperation across various fields, including trade, investment, and food security, while exploring new opportunities to advance mutual interests.
