CAIRO – 3 April 2026: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdelatty, met with Vyacheslav Volodin, Speaker of the Russian State Duma, on Friday during an official visit to Moscow.
The meeting primarily addressed various strategies to enhance parliamentary cooperation between the two nations.
Minister Abdelatty expressed his desire to welcome the Speaker to Cairo in the near future, noting that such a visit would significantly contribute to the expansion of bilateral relations and reinforce the shared commitment to strengthening cooperation across diverse fields.
During the discussions, the Foreign Minister emphasized his aspiration to activate all existing committees and frameworks for parliamentary collaboration.
He noted that such efforts would enhance institutional coordination mechanisms while supporting direct communication and the exchange of expertise between members of the two legislative bodies.
This focus underscores the pivotal role that parliament plays in supporting the comprehensive development of bilateral cooperation.
Minister Abdelatty highlighted the importance of continued collaboration to bolster economic, trade, and investment ties. Key priorities mentioned included expediting the implementation of the Russian industrial zone project within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, attracting increased Russian investment to Egypt, and advancing the establishment of a grain logistics center to support regional economic integration.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Foreign Minister reiterated the essential role of the State Duma in supporting the strategic partnership between Egypt and Russia.
He emphasized the necessity of building upon established successes in energy security, specifically through the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project and various oil and gas initiatives, while also advocating for enhanced cooperation in the critical area of food security.
