Nine dead after pickup collides with cargo truck in Egypt’s Menoufia

MENOUFIA – 2 April 2026: Nine people were killed and three others injured, when a pickup truck collided with a large cargo truck Thursday morning in Nile Delta’s Menoufia Governorate.

The death toll on the Sadat-Menouf road rose to nine after one of the injured victims succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

According to security sources, Menoufia police have arrested the driver of one of the vehicles, who is reported to have been driving in the wrong direction and caused the collision.

Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy ordered immediate coordination with the Menoufia social solidarity directorate and the Egyptian Red Crescent relief teams to provide urgent assistance.

She also instructed the disbursement of assistance to the families of the victims, as well as to those injured, in accordance with medical reports.
