FM welcomes strategic cooperation between Egypt, Norway's Scatec

CAIRO - 1 April 2026: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, welcomed the level of strategic cooperation between Egypt and Norway's Scatec during his meeting with Terje Pilskog, CEO of the Norwegian company Scatec.
 
He noted that this cooperation contributes to strengthening economic and investment relations between the two countries.
 
The meeting was held within the framework of enhancing economic cooperation between Egypt and Norway in various fields, including the renewable energy sector.
 
The Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen cooperation in the renewable energy sector, given its growing importance and its status as a national priority.
 
He highlighted the importance the Egyptian government places on empowering the private sector, attracting more foreign direct investment, and supporting foreign companies operating in Egypt.
 
He also commended the Norwegian company's plans to double its investments in Egypt by establishing a wind turbine factory to localize this industry in Egypt, as well as constructing a solar-powered desalination plant, in implementation of the directives of His Excellency the President of the Republic to expand the company's activities in Egypt.
 
The Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for the company's efforts in establishing multiple partnerships to implement major projects aimed at localizing industries in Egypt, highlighting Egypt's natural resources, investment opportunities, and human capital.
 
In this context, he reviewed the Egyptian government's efforts to support the green economy and the ongoing endeavors to transform Egypt into a global hub for green hydrogen production, affirming Egypt's full support for the Norwegian company's projects in Egypt.
 
He also expressed his aspiration to strengthen trilateral cooperation in Africa to implement development projects, particularly in the field of renewable energy, given Egypt's commitment to enhancing its presence on the African continent and supporting development projects and energy transition processes in Africa.
