CAIRO – 31 March 2026: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi affirmed that Egypt and China, as responsible nations, reject all attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure and do not condone any threats to the stability of the Gulf states.

In a statement released by the Chinese Embassy in Cairo on Tuesday, the Minister explained that while initiating peace talks between the United States and Iran is a complex task, negotiation remains the only viable path to avoiding further casualties and losses.

He noted that diplomacy is essential to preventing the conflict from escalating and ensuring the restoration of normal navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Minister added that as the conflict escalates and spreads rapidly throughout the region, the top priority must be to actively promote peace talks, seize opportunities for mediation, and work toward immediate de-escalation.

He emphasized that Beijing supports regional countries in maintaining calm and responding rationally to the current situation. He urged a long-term perspective based on fundamental interests to ensure lasting regional stability.
