CAIRO – 31 March 2026: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty received Charles Friis, Deputy Secretary-General of the European External Action Service for Peace, Security, and Defence, on Tuesday.
The visit is part of the ongoing coordination and consultation between Egypt and the European Union, reflecting a shared commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, Minister Abdelatty commended the current momentum in Egyptian-European relations. He emphasized the importance of further strengthening ties in the coming period, particularly in the areas of economic, trade, and investment cooperation, within the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership with the EU.
The Foreign Minister also reviewed Egypt's efforts to bolster regional security and stability. He highlighted the intensive diplomatic contacts currently underway to de-escalate tensions, stressing that dialogue remains the only way to prevent the region from sliding into further instability.
For his part, the European official praised Egypt's proactive efforts to reduce regional tensions and its pivotal role in supporting security and stability. He specifically commended Egypt's initiatives aimed at containing crises and strengthening diplomatic channels.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the strategic partnership between Egypt and the European Union serves as a fundamental pillar for developing cooperation across various fields to serve the mutual interests of both parties.
