CAIRO - 25 March 2026: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly chaired a Central Crisis Management Committee meeting on Tuesday to address the domestic and economic repercussions of ongoing regional military escalations.
The meeting, held at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, included the Governor of the Central Bank and several key ministers to ensure the stability of strategic reserves and basic commodities.
Madbouly reviewed Egypt's diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the conflict and protect Arab sovereignty.
Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty detailed the President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's recent Gulf tour, noting a unified stance against any violation of Arab states' stability.
Addressing economic concerns, Central Bank Governor Hassan Abdalla confirmed that foreign currency remains available for essential goods and raw manufacturing materials.
Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi similarly assured that strategic stockpiles of medicine and fuel are secure.
Electricity Minister Mahmoud Esmat reported on the unified grid’s reserve capacities and the impact of recent energy-saving measures. These include reducing road lighting, turning off advertising billboards entirely, and the 9 p.m. closure of malls and shops.
The minister noted these steps have already yielded an estimated surplus to help meet peak-hour demand.
For his part, Information Minister Diaa Rashwan announced that a press conference will be held on Wednesday. The briefing, featuring the Foreign Minister, will further detail Egypt’s mediation efforts since the onset of the war between the U.S. and Israel, and Iran.
