CAIRO - 24 March 2026: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, spoke by phone with Mr. Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs of Jordan, on Tuesday.

The ministers discussed efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region and the importance of diplomacy as a means to restore security and stability.

During the call, the two ministers reiterated their condemnation of Iranian attacks on Jordan and the brotherly Gulf Arab states. They emphasized their absolute solidarity in protecting Arab national security and their commitment to activating joint Arab action to confront shared economic and political challenges.

The ministers stressed the necessity of halting Iranian aggression against Arab states, affirming that respect for international law and the sovereignty of states is a fundamental condition for ensuring a secure and stable future for the region.

The two ministers also discussed preparations for the upcoming regular session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level, scheduled for the end of this month. They emphasized its importance in forging a unified Arab stance to address shared security and political challenges and the dangerous escalation witnessed in the region.

The two ministers also discussed the situation in Lebanon, affirming their support for Lebanon’s security, stability, and sovereignty over all its territory, and supporting the Lebanese government’s decision to restrict weapons to the state. Abdelatty and Safadi condemned Israel’s aggression against Lebanon and its expansionist policies in the region.

The two ministers stressed that the international focus on the war with Iran should not come at the expense of efforts to end the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

They emphasized the importance of halting illegal Israeli measures in the West Bank, which undermine all opportunities for achieving a just peace.

The ministers reiterated their condemnation of the attacks by Israeli settlers against the Palestinian people, which constitute a flagrant violation of international law and a dangerous escalation that requires concerted international efforts to stop.

The two ministers also condemned Israel’s continued violation of the right to worship for Muslims and Christians in the occupied Palestinian territory, where Israel prevents worshippers from practicing their religious rites in their holy sites.
