CAIRO - 24 March 2026: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, spoke by phone Monday with his counterparts from different countries.
Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that these intensive contacts come within the framework of Egypt's keenness to maintain the coordination and consultation with its Arab brothers and regional and international partners regarding the rapidly evolving security situation in the region.
The discussions focused on ways to contain the ongoing military escalation, given that this escalation, with its expanding scope and reach, could drag the entire region into widespread chaos with unpredictable consequences, harming regional and international peace and security.
During his calls, the Foreign Minister reiterated Egypt's complete condemnation of the Iranian attacks targeting the brotherly Gulf states, emphasizing that they cannot be justified by any flimsy pretexts and that they must cease immediately.
He further stressed the importance of concerted efforts to de-escalate the situation, confirming Egypt's full support and positive engagement with all initiatives and endeavors aimed at achieving calm and ending the war. He affirmed that Egypt will spare no effort in promoting dialogue and diplomacy and working toward achieving security and stability in the region and the world.
The official spokesman added that the talks addressed the potential negotiations between the Iranian and American sides in light of President Trump’s recent initiative, and the efforts made by a number of regional parties, including Egypt, to advance the diplomatic and negotiating track as the only way to avoid total chaos in the region.
The calls were made between FM Badr Abdelatty and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates; Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Badr Al-Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman; Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey; Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan; Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the French Republic; Constantinos Kombous, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus; and Steve Witkoff, US Special Envoy to the Middle East.
