CAIRO - 23 March 2026: Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs International Cooperation and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty received a phone call from Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis as part of regular consultations to exchange views on the latest regional developments and the dangerous escalation in the Middle East.

 

During the call Minister Abdelatty highlighted the extremely grave developments witnessing the region stressing the vital importance of unified regional and international efforts to prevent a slide into total chaos.

 

He reviewed Egypt ongoing diplomatic contacts aimed at calming the situation reducing escalation and prioritizing dialogue to contain the crisis

 

The Egyptian Foreign Minister reaffirmed Egypt absolute condemnation of attacks on the territories of sister Arab nations, stated clearly that any violation of the sovereignty of any Arab state constitutes a direct threat to both Egyptian and Arab national security.

 

Minister Abdelatty emphasized the need for international cooperation to avoid an all out regional war considering the severe economic and security consequences it would have on the entire world.

 

A key focus of the discussion was the necessity of maintaining international freedom of navigation and ensuring it is not obstructed in any way both ministers agreed to continue their close coordination within the framework of the strategic relations between Egypt and Greece. They pledged to support all efforts aimed at containing the situation and protecting the region from further instability
