Families visit Alexandria’s Nozha Zoo during Eid al-Fitr as the park showcases new animal births and holiday activities.
CAIRO - 21 MARCH 2026: CAIRO - 21 MARCH 2026: Alexandria’s Nozha Zoo is marking Eid al-Fitr 2026 with a busy holiday program aimed at giving families an easy, fun day out, from new animal births to extra entry points and on-site services designed to keep visits smooth.
Dr. Shaimaa Mohamed Abdullah, the zoo’s director, said the park welcomed around 7,000 visitors on the first day of Eid, most of them families from Alexandria, as residents started their holiday outings.
Newborn animals and rare birds on display
One of this season’s main attractions is the zoo’s newest arrivals. Abdullah said visitors will be able to see new African lion cubs, along with newborn monkeys and other animals, in addition to newly hatched rare birds being displayed in their enclosures.
To support holiday crowds, the zoo has opened a new vehicle entrance, raising the total to three gates, while also increasing seating areas and expanding kiosk points. The cafeteria is also operating throughout the Eid break to offer fast meals for visitors.
Families will also find a dedicated kids’ corner, more sales points to reduce queueing, and an internal announcement system to help reunite lost children with their families if needed. The zoo said police presence and ambulance support have been arranged to support public safety, alongside entertainment activities including theatre segments, face painting and henna.
Nozha Zoo, established in 1926, is one of Alexandria’s long-standing public landmarks and is considered Egypt’s second-largest zoo after Giza Zoo. As it nears its centenary, it remains a familiar Eid destination for families looking for a classic holiday outing.
