CAIRO – 18 March 2026: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdelatty, received a phone call on Wednesday from the Foreign Minister of the Comoros, Mohamed Mbaé, to discuss recent developments in the Middle East and ongoing efforts to de-escalate regional tensions.

The discussion focused on the dangerous military escalation in the region. Minister Abdelatty briefed his Comorian counterpart on the results of Egypt's intensive diplomatic outreach and meetings with various regional and international stakeholders aimed at containing the situation. He also shared insights from his recent tour of the Gulf.

Abdelatty stressed the urgent need to prioritize diplomatic channels to prevent the region from sliding into widespread chaos. He further emphasized the necessity of an immediate halt to all forms of military escalation that threaten regional peace and security.

Minister Mohamed Mbaé praised Egypt's consistent efforts to reduce tensions, contain the crisis, and champion diplomatic solutions.

During the call, both ministers agreed to strongly condemn the reprehensible attacks that targeted Gulf states. They expressed a categorical rejection of any measures that destabilize the region or infringe upon the sovereignty of its nations.

Both officials concluded by emphasizing the vital importance of adhering to international law and the principle of good neighborliness.
