CAIRO - 18 March 2026: Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has issued a decree pardoning a number of prisoners in honour of Eid Al-Fitr and Sinai Liberation Day, which fall respectively on April 25 2026.
The presidential pardon reflects the state commitment to mercy and social reintegration within the framework of the New Republic It allows eligible inmates to return to their families and participate in the joy of the national and religious festivities.
The Ministry of Interior is expected to form specialized committees to review the files of inmates across all reform and rehabilitation centers to determine those who meet the legal and security criteria for the pardon.
