CAIRO - 16 March 2026: Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty held Monday discussions with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi in Amman, where they expressed support for Gulf states under Iranian attack and slammed Israeli violations in Lebanon, Gaza, and the West Bank.
The meeting marked the fourth stop of Abdelatty’s regional tour to coordinate efforts regarding the severe challenges facing the region.
In a Monday statement, the Foreign Ministry said the two diplomats reviewed the repercussions of the regional escalation and explored diplomatic paths to restore calm and prevent the conflict from spreading.
They underscored the necessity of activating joint Arab coordination to address regional crises, an initiative the Egypt has been spearheading for over a week.
Abdelatty and Safadi condemned recent Iranian attacks on Jordan and Gulf states, labeling them an "unjustified escalation and a violation of international law and state sovereignty."
Both ministers reiterated Egypt and Jordan's full solidarity with their Arab neighbors, supporting any measures taken to protect their citizens, security, and stability.
Regarding the situation in Gaza, the ministers emphasized that regional crises should not overshadow the humanitarian disaster in the Strip. They called for the full implementation of U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan and urged an end to illegal Israeli actions in the West Bank.
They also condemned Israel’s continued restrictions on the Al-Aqsa Mosque, calling it a flagrant violation of international law and the historical status quo.
On Lebanon, Abdelatty and Safadi voiced support for the Lebanese government's efforts to empower national institutions and ensure that arms remain exclusively in the hands of the state.
They also condemned the ongoing Israeli military actions in Lebanon, demanding an immediate end to the aggression.
