CAIRO - 16 March 2026: On February, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdelatty and Qatar’s Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi stressed the priority of de-escalation and containing rising regional tensions during talks held here on Tuesday.

Egypt and Qatar are actively coordinating to contain the rapidly escalating military tensions across the Middle East, with a specific focus on the Gaza conflict and rising tensions involving Iran and Gulf states.

In March 2026, high-level discussions between the two nations highlighted the urgency of restoring stability and preventing a wider regional war, with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty emphasizing that Gulf security is "inseparable" from Egypt's own.

Qatari newspapers have highlighted ongoing efforts by Egypt and Qatar to strengthen joint Arab action and coordinate positions in response to regional challenges, emphasizing the importance of cooperation to maintain stability in the Middle East.

The Qatari daily Al-Sharq said in an editorial titled “Qatar and Egypt: Strengthening Joint Arab Action to Confront Challenges” that the talks reflected a shared commitment by both leaderships to enhance coordination and maintain continuous consultations. The newspaper noted that such dialogue aims to support regional security, contain escalating tensions, and prevent the expansion of conflict in the region.

Al-Arab newspaper pointed out that Egypt’s firm condemnation of attacks against Qatar, and its unwavering support during this sensitive period, underscores a clear understanding: Arab security is indivisible. The paper stated that any threat to the sovereignty of one Arab nation is fundamentally a threat to the entire region’s stability.
