CAIRO - 16 March 2026: Egyptian Ministry of Interior launched a series of initiatives and events aimed at honoring women and providing support to female breadwinners and mothers, coinciding with International Women's Day, Egyptian Women's Day, and Mother's Day.
This move comes as a humanitarian gesture reflecting its leading role in society, and as part of its participation in celebrating Egyptian women's holidays during March 2026.
The initiative began at correctional and rehabilitation centers, where the "Community Protection and Human Rights" sectors received delegations from the National Council for Women and the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood at the Tenth of Ramadan Center.
A special celebration was organized for incarcerated mothers and their children, and gifts were distributed to them.
The Ministry also decided to grant all inmates an exceptional visit on the occasion of Mother's Day, in addition to disbursing financial aid to incarcerated mothers to bring them joy.
Regarding in-kind support to alleviate economic burdens, a delegation from the Human Rights Sector of the Cairo and Giza Security Directorates received a number of female breadwinners and the most needy families at the Railway Club and the Eastern Tobacco Club. They were presented with packages of food supplies.
This initiative was extended to all security directorates nationwide, ensuring that aid reached those in need in every governorate.
The Human Rights Sector at the ministry also hosted a Ramadan iftar banquet at the Nile Police Officers Club in Dokki, attended by 20 mothers of the "Differently Abled" athletic champions, in appreciation of their dedication to raising their children.
Similar events were held at police clubs in other governorates, bringing together mothers of people with disabilities in a warm, family-like atmosphere.
In the medical field, the Ministry announced the opening of police hospitals in Agouza, Tanta, Alexandria, and Assiut on Friday evenings in March to provide free medical examinations for civilian women.
A delegation from the Health Committee of the National Council for Women visited the Agouza Police Hospital, where they commended the high level of healthcare and the excellent medical services provided to women visiting the hospital.
These initiatives were met with widespread positive feedback from women and participating organizations, who expressed their deep appreciation for the Ministry of Interior's commitment to considering the humanitarian and social dimensions and its constant support for Egyptian women on all national and social occasions.
