CAIRO – 16 March 2026: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Migration, Badr Abdelatty, met with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman on Monday in Muscat to reaffirm Cairo's solidarity with the Sultanate.
Oman comes as the third stop on the Foreign Minister's regional tour, which has included visits to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. The tour is aimed at reinforcing Egypt's support for sisterly Arab nations amidst the current regional military escalations and security threats.

During the meeting, Minister Abdelatty conveyed Cairo’s firm support for Oman in the face of recent security challenges and what he described as “unacceptable and unjustified attacks.”
He delivered a message of greeting from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, reiterating that the Egyptian leadership, government, and people stand in full solidarity with Oman during this delicate period.
Minister Abdelatty expressed the Egyptian political leadership's appreciation for Sultan Haitham’s wisdom and his commendable mediation efforts to maintain regional stability. He praised the Sultan's policy of exercising utmost restraint under challenging circumstances to avoid further destabilizing the region.
For his part, His Majesty the Sultan asked to convey his greetings to President El-Sisi, praising Egypt's wise and balanced policies. He expressed the Sultanate's pride in Egypt's consistent support for Gulf security, commending Cairo's pivotal role as a pillar of stability and a defender of Arab national security.
Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the Foreign Minister emphasized Egypt's unequivocal condemnation of recent attacks on Omani territory.
Abdelatty affirmed a complete rejection of any pretexts used to justify these flagrant violations of international law and the UN Charter, stressing that the security of the Sultanate and the Arabian Gulf is an integral extension of Egyptian national security.
The two leaders reviewed the dangerous escalation of military activity in the region and emphasized the importance of continued coordination between Egypt and Oman to contain tensions and end the conflict. They agreed on the necessity of prioritizing diplomatic solutions to prevent the region from descending into widespread chaos.
Furthermore, Minister Abdelatty stressed the importance of launching a serious Arab dialogue regarding post-war security arrangements.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq commended the distinguished trajectory of bilateral relations. He expressed appreciation for the contributions of Egyptian companies to Oman’s modernization process and voiced his aspiration to further strengthen ties to meet the shared goals of both nations.
