CAIRO – 16 March 2026: The Port of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates was targeted on Monday, marking the second attack within a week. The attack comes amid sharply escalating tensions between Iran and the United States, raising concerns over the impact on regional peace and stability.

The Fujairah Government Media Office announced that a fire broke out after debris from an intercepted drone fell within the port's vicinity. No injuries were reported, and civil defense teams successfully contained the blaze.

As its primary export route bypassing the Strait of Hormuz, the Port of Fujairah remains a critical strategic hub for the UAE.

The Dubai Government Media Office also reported a separate incident involving a drone strike on a fuel tank near Dubai International Airport (DXB). While the impact caused a fire, authorities confirmed it was brought under control without injuries to staff or passengers.

Specialized teams have secured the area around the airport. Relevant authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure the protection of vital infrastructure and the safety of residents and travelers.

The UAE Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense systems successfully intercepted nine ballistic missiles and 33 drones launched from Iran on Monday.

The Ministry further detailed the scale of the ongoing conflict, stating that since the start of these hostilities, UAE air defenses have intercepted a total of 294 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,600 drones. According to official figures, these attacks have resulted in six deaths and 141 injuries ranging from minor to moderate.
