CAIRO – 15 March 2026: Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty conveyed a message of full solidarity to the UAE on Sunday, meeting with his Emirati counterpart to discuss strengthening collective Arab security.
Abdelatty and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met in Al Ain as part of a broader regional diplomatic tour aimed at addressing recent tensions.
In a statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry unequivocally condemned the recent attacks targeting the UAE’s sovereignty, critical infrastructure, and economic assets.
Abdelatty further denounced the recurring drone strikes on the UAE Consulate General in Erbil, Iraq, noting that attacks on diplomatic missions constitute a flagrant violation of international law and the UN Charter.
During the meeting, the Minister commended the UAE’s “restraint and wisdom” in navigating the crisis and extended condolences for the lives lost.
Egypt’s top diplomat emphasized that the UAE’s security is an inseparable pillar of Gulf and Arab stability, and by extension, vital to Egypt’s own national security.
During the talks, the ministers examined the regional military escalation “in detail.” Abdelatty warned of the risks of a wider conflict, calling for urgent de-escalation.
He stressed the necessity of establishing preventative and defensive mechanisms, moving toward a practical framework for collective Arab security to address the “current unprecedented challenges."
Beyond regional security, the two ministers explored avenues to further deepen bilateral partnerships and economic development.
