CAIRO - 15 March 2026: Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty emphasized to his Qatari counterpart the need to accelerate joint Arab action frameworks, including a joint Arab force, to provide an effective protection umbrella for Arab states.
Abdelatty and Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani held talks on Sunday to coordinate positions regarding rapid regional developments.
In a Sunday statement, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Tamim Khallaf said that Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s full solidarity with Qatar in the face of recent Iranian attacks and threats.
He emphasized Egypt’s categorical condemnation of any attempts to target Qatar or destabilize its security, describing the attacks as “unjustified and undermining regional peace.”
Abdelatty extended his condolences to the Qatari government and people for the victims of these attacks and wished the wounded a speedy recovery.
The minister warned of the consequences of continued escalation, which threatens maritime navigation and vital infrastructure. He noted the importance of unified diplomatic efforts to end such practices immediately.
For his part, the Qatari Prime Minister expressed his country’s deep appreciation for Egypt’s supportive positions and its ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions and strengthen Arab solidarity.
Regarding bilateral relations, the two ministers discussed ways to develop ties and expand cooperation in various fields to achieve strategic integration and mutual prosperity.
The Egyptian foreign minister emphasized Egypt’s commitment to building on the current momentum in bilateral relations to meet the aspirations of both peoples.
