CAIRO – 14 March 2026: Egypt’s Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation announced that agricultural drains spanning approximately 39,000 kilometers were cleaned by removing weeds during the period from 2025 to March 2026.
The Ministry added that the drains were dredged, with an excavation volume of about 8.5 million cubic meters.
Additionally, a total of 51 industrial works were completed on the agricultural drainage network, along with the replacement and renewal of covered drainage networks over an area of approximately 68,000 acres.
The Ministry also carried out maintenance and washing operations for covered drainage networks at least once in an area exceeding 5.7 million acres.
