CAIRO - 14 MARCH 2026: Iran signalled a further escalation on Saturday, with a spokesperson for the Iranian defense ministry saying Tehran plans to use ballistic missiles and other types of missiles with “greater destructive power” and “higher precision” in the coming period, according to reports carried by Al Qahera News and international coverage citing Reuters.

The statement came as Israeli and Arab media reported a new round of missile fire toward Israel, including sirens in wide areas and reports of impacts in the north.

Iran and Hezbollah carried out “joint” strikes toward northern Israel and reported a direct hit in the port city of Haifa, with further alerts including around the Tel Nof air base south of Tel Aviv.

Israel’s military has not publicly confirmed all of the claims made in regional media reports about specific locations hit, and independent verification of the reported Haifa impact was not immediately available.
