CAIRO – 13 March 2026: Omani authorities announced on Friday that two people were killed after two drones crashed in Sohar province, as aerial attacks in the Gulf region continued for the 14th consecutive day.

Simultaneously, the UAE and Saudi Arabia reported that they successfully intercepted a series of missile and drone strikes.

The Oman News Agency (ONA) confirmed the fatalities occurred when a drone impacted an industrial zone in Sohar.

The agency quoted a security source stating, “Two drones crashed in Sohar province. One struck the Al-Awahi industrial area, resulting in the deaths of two expatriates and several injuries. The second crashed in an open area with no reported casualties. Relevant authorities are continuing to investigate both incidents.”

On March 11, The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) in Oman has announced its response to a major fire that erupted in fuel tanks within the Port of Salalah. Firefighting teams commenced operations to control the blaze on Wednesday evening.

According to the Oman News Agency, the Authority explained that emergency teams were dispatched immediately to the site. They are currently working to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading to adjacent port facilities.

The CDAA confirmed that firefighting operations are being supported by the Omani Armed Forces, alongside various companies operating within the industrial zone. Officials noted that efforts are ongoing to suppress the fire while ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols.

Social media users shared footage showing intense flames and thick plumes of black smoke rising from the port. While some unconfirmed reports circulating online suggested the site may have been targeted by a drone, there has been no official confirmation regarding the cause of the ignition.
