President El-Sisi affirms to Iranian counterpart Egypt's condemnation of attacks on Gulf states

CAIRO – 13 March 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call on Friday from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss the ongoing regional escalation.

The official spokesperson for the Presidency stated that President El-Sisi affirmed Egypt's unequivocal condemnation and absolute rejection of Iran's targeting of brotherly Gulf states, Jordan, and Iraq.

The President emphasized that these nations have not supported or participated in the hostilities against Iran; on the contrary, they have consistently contributed to de-escalation efforts and supported Iranian-American negotiations aimed at reaching a diplomatic solution to the crisis.

The President expressed Egypt's aspiration for all parties to uphold the principles of good neighborliness and called for an immediate cessation of these attacks. He voiced Egypt's deep regret over the current escalation and expressed profound concern regarding its negative repercussions on regional stability and the well-being of its people.

President El-Sisi also reviewed the ongoing Egyptian efforts to halt military operations and facilitate a return to the negotiating table, stressing the necessity for all sides to exercise the flexibility required to achieve a peaceful resolution.

The official spokesperson indicated that the Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed his appreciation for the efforts of Egypt and President El-Sisi to de-escalate tensions, affirming that his country participated in rounds of negotiations to reach an agreement on the Iranian nuclear program.

He also emphasized Iran's commitment to fraternal relations and good neighborliness with Arab states.

President El-Sisi discussed with the Iranian President possible ways to end the escalation, stressing Egypt's readiness to exert every effort to mediate and prioritize political and diplomatic solutions to the current crisis.

He emphasized the necessity for all parties to respect international law and the UN Charter, as well as the need to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states and refrain from interfering in their internal affairs.
