CAIRO – 12 March 2026: Minister of Labor Hassan Radad announced, on Thursday, that the period between March 19 and March 23 will be an official paid holiday to mark Eid al-Fitr for the private sector employees nationwide.
He emphasized that employers may require employees to work during this holiday if necessary. In this case, the employee is entitled to double their regular pay for that day, in addition to their regular pay, or to be granted another day off in lieu of work, in accordance with the provisions of the Labor Law.
Egypt will observe an official paid holiday from March 19 to March 23 to mark Eid al-Fitr for public sector employees, according to a decree issued by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Wednesday.
The decision applies to employees working in ministries, government departments, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies and public business sector enterprises.
